If you're searching for a wireless charger to skip the hassle of plugging in a cable at your desk or bedside, you'll quickly run into everything from stands that let you use your phone while it charges to 3-in-1 chargers that charge multiple devices at once — and the range of shapes and outputs can make it hard to choose. Wireless chargers broadly split into stand types (easy to see the screen while charging), foldable types (easy to carry), and multi-device types (charge your phone, earbuds, and smartwatch together), and which one you pick changes your day-to-day experience. Here we compare four products on five items: max output, charging standard, devices at once, size and weight.

Pros and Cons of Wireless Chargers
Before you buy, here's a rundown of what wireless chargers do well, and what's worth keeping in mind.
Pros
- No cable to plug in — just set your device down to charge it
- With a stand-type charger, you can see the screen while it charges
- A multi-device charger lets you charge your phone, earbuds, and smartwatch all at once
Cons
- If you're already happy with your current charger's speed and ease of use, there's less reason to upgrade
- Charging through a case can lose efficiency depending on how thick the case is
How to Choose a Wireless Charger: 6 Points
Here are 6 points to check before you buy. The figures in the diagrams come from the official and retail-page specs of the products in this article.
Match the Charger's Max Output to What Your Phone Accepts
Even if a charger lists a high maximum, the output you actually get is set by what your phone accepts and by the standard. The Anker PowerWave 10 Stand lists 10 W, for example, but the maker says iPhones and others get 5 W. Belkin's 25 W applies to phones that support Qi2 25 W; other Qi2 devices get up to 15 W. Check how many watts your own phone supports first.

Check the Standard: Qi, Qi2, and Multi-Device Types
Qi is the basic wireless charging standard, and Qi2 is the newer standard that adds magnetic alignment. Check that your phone and case are supported.

Check Simultaneous Charging, Included Items and Orientation
Whether you charge only a phone, or earbuds and a smartwatch too, decides the shape you need. We also lined up magnetic alignment, upright or sideways use, and whether a charger and USB-C cable come in the box, as shown on the maker's pages.

Size (Where It Sits, and Carrying It)
If it goes on a desk or bedside table, check that it fits the spot. Here we compare the volume from the three official dimensions multiplied. The Belkin's listed size (106 × 60 × 27 mm) is not stated by the maker as folded or opened.

Weight
If you plan to carry it around, lightness matters too.

Check What Is Included, Case Limits and Warranty
Some wireless chargers come without a charger (AC adapter). Before you buy, look at these four things.

Who Wireless Chargers Are a Good Fit For — and Who Should Consider Other Options
As a category, wireless chargers tend to work well for the following people.
Good fit if you...
- Want to drop a phone down and charge it, without plugging a cable in
- Want several devices charging in one spot
- Want to see notifications and the screen while it charges
Consider other options if you...
- Are already happy with the speed and placement of the charger you use
- Put charging speed first, at wired fast-charge levels (wireless tends to be somewhat slower)
- Want a MagSafe charger to hold firmly through a thick case (you would need to remove it or switch to a thinner one)
What to Look at When Choosing
We scored the following five items (the criteria are in the table at the end of the article).
1. Charging speed (the highest max output listed)
2. Charging standard (Qi, Qi2, Qi2.2 25 W certified)
3. Devices at once (how many devices charge at the same time)
4. Size (volume from the official dimensions)
5. Lightness (weight of the unit)
Feel in use and stability on the desk are not part of the score.
Still deciding? Check these in order
Q1. Do you want a MagSafe iPhone to sit firmly in place?
Choosing a MagSafe-compatible model, where magnets handle the alignment, cuts down on the phone sitting slightly off each time.
Q2. Do you want to charge earbuds or a watch alongside the phone?
For several devices at once, a folding 3-in-1 type suits.
Q3. Do you just want to try drop-and-charge as cheaply as possible?
If you do not need anything special, starting with a standard Qi stand model is the easiest way in.
Common Stumbling Points and How to Handle Them
Before buying, check your case and your power source. For the Anker PowerWave 10 Stand, the maker says to remove cases about 5 mm or thicker, metal or magnetic cases, and credit cards before charging. For the Anker MagGo, it says to remove cases 2.5 mm or thicker, pop sockets and similar, and it does not support non-MagSafe cases. Checking the maker's page against your own case before you buy is a safe habit.
Whether a charger is included is also worth a look. The PowerWave and the MagGo come without one, so you need your own with enough watts (for the MagGo, the maker advises a 25 W charger). The Belkin includes a 45 W power adapter. Getting into the habit of checking that the charging light is on right after you set your phone down makes it easier to notice if charging has stopped partway through.
First Steps After You Buy
After setting it up, place your phone on it and check that the charging light or notification displays correctly, then watch for a few minutes to make sure charging doesn't cut out partway through. For MagSafe-compatible models, check the strength of the magnetic hold and how long it takes for charging to start with the case you normally use still attached — that will help you judge how comfortable it will be for everyday use. For multi-device chargers, try placing every device you plan to charge at once and confirm that they all start charging without interfering with each other.
How the Spec Score Is Calculated
Each criterion is scored from 1 to 5, and the overall score is the weighted average. We use the manufacturer's official figures; where the official site could not be read, we fill in from Amazon, Rakuten Ichiba, Kakaku.com and similar retail or comparison pages (only pages that match the exact model number). A criterion with no published figure is left out and the average is taken over the rest (for care and features, only items that are actually listed earn points).
| Charging speed (30% weight) | Max output (the highest figure listed) 25 W or more = 5 / 15 W or more = 4 / 10 W or more = 3 / 7.5 W or more = 2 / below = 1 |
|---|---|
| Standard (20% weight) | Charging standard supported (Qi = 1, Qi2 = 3, Qi2.2 25 W certified = 5) Qi2.2 25 W certified = 5 / Qi2 (magnetic) = 3 / plain Qi = 1 |
| Devices at once (15% weight) | Number of devices that charge at the same time 3 or more = 5 / 2 = 3 / 1 = 1 |
| Size (20% weight) | Body volume (the three official dimensions multiplied, cm³) 250 cm³ or less = 5 / 600 or less = 4 / 1000 or less = 3 / 1500 or less = 2 / above = 1 |
| Lightness (15% weight) | Weight of the unit 120 g or less = 5 / 200 g or less = 4 / 300 g or less = 3 / 500 g or less = 2 / above = 1 |
Summary
This comparison uses published specs, not hands-on impressions. Decide first whether you have a MagSafe iPhone, whether you want earbuds and a watch charged alongside it, and whether you will carry it, then choose what to look at.
